When Elsebeth Lavold created a collection with all children’s designs, she took her task very seriously. The Just Kidding title instead refers to the playful mood, colors and photos that characterize the book. In addition to the creative and sometimes unusual designs that are so typical of her style, she has even included a teddy bear size lace sweater and a toy turtle.
   But the focus is on attractive and wearable garments for children up to the age of ten. Animals, sometimes in a medieval style, populate quite a few of the pages. But don’t expect ingratiating puppies and kittens in a Lavold collection; instead, she’ll put a rhino with a happy bird on its back on the front of a sweater, or a hare on its hind legs, adapted from a medieval tapestry. Unorthodox, but very decorative.
   The cover design O’Kay represents a different angle than the numerous color patterns; a colorful and striking cardigan in her new, soft Cool Wool yarn, and amazingly easy to knit. As usual in a Lavold collection, complexity spans from almost beginner to projects for the experienced knitter.
   Expect a plethora of both stylish and pretty childrenswear inside the covers of The Just Kidding Collection, for knitters to enjoy and for children to love.
