Back Cover Text:
In The Wellington Collection, Elsebeth
Lavold explores the possibilities of two new additions to her yarn line,
Eucool and Twice Tweed.
She set out to create a collection characterized by nostalgia and rural
serenity, but soon discovered that many of her new designs could be worn with
high heels just as well as with Wellingtons.
The chic simplicity of Janet, on the front cover, is one
example; the elegance of the tweed suit Sadie, on the back cover, is
another. And there are many more inside the book. Essentially rustic yarns can
still result in stylish and versatile garments, when used by an imaginative and
sophisticated designer like Elsebeth Lavold.
Two of the designs are men’s garments, the “businessman’s casual
alternative to a jacket” George, and the “19th hole stunner” Wendell
with its eye-catching chunky horseshoe cable against a striped background.
Wendell can also be made in a women’s version, and playing golf is optional.
The variety in garment styles and knitting techniques in The
Wellington Collection once again shows that Elsebeth Lavold, using her
technical skills and creative mind, can take simple ingredients and turn them
into gourmet knitting. The main problem is choosing what to make first.
